Headstone date calculations

Calculations for headstone inscriptions (by Dale Bennett)

If you end up with a death date and and age, here's a great way to calculate the birth date:

January 3, 1815 age 75 years 5 months 12 days:

Borrow like you would in subtraction, from 1815, borrow a year/12 months so then it would be 1814. add the 12 months to the 1 month, making 13 months, borrow one month and add the 30 days and instead of 3 days you have 33 days.

1815 01 03 death date becomes:

1814 12 33 - 75 05 12 = 1739 07 21

Calendar / Clock The Calendar will accept years between 0001 and 4000. If you write a year between 1 and 99, the calendar thinks you mean 1901-1999, so if you really want to see how year 25 AD was, you will have to add a "0" before: 025 will give you year 25 AD. If you select a year between 1582 and 1918 you will have to use the right calendar system, as different countries changed to the Gregorian system at different times, so you will have to choose among catholic and non-catholic countries and Russia. There will appear some links at the bottom of the calendar where you can go to a different system. I'm not too sure about the russian standard, especially not the time of the change from Julian to Gregorian.............
